Alan joined the practice in 1988, becoming an Associate in 1995 and a Partner in 2000 having previously worked in both small local and large international based multi disciplinary practices. With wide experience in the design of healthcare, commercial, leisure and community buildings, Alan began designing medical premises on joining the practice and has now been involved with in excess of eighty in the capacity of Project Architect, lead consultant, and GP’s advisor, a number of which have won Civic Trust and RIBA Design Awards at both local and national levels. Alan designed and procured medical facilities through traditional routes funded by cost rent, improvement grants and independent notional rent arrangements and by third party developer led programmes. He has lectured and tutored at De Montfort University School of Architecture for medical design modules as well as having conducted seminars with GP groups regarding alternative procurement paths for primary care and the role of the Architect. He was appointed as DDA Auditor by a number of PCTs and councils across the country. More recently Alan has been focussing on commercial and leisure projects, securing appointments on long term development programmes.
