As part of a series of articles, we carried out a ‘quick-fire’ question and answer session with all members of staff at brp architects with the aim of publishing the answers from 1 member of staff each month. It’s a bit of fun, and we hope you enjoy reading and getting to know us a little better.

What is your favourite building?
“Burj Al Arab or anything designed by Santiago Calatrava”

What would you be doing, if you weren’t doing your current role?
“Paramedic or an airline pilot, even though I have a fear of flying!”

Where would you live, if you could go anywhere in the world?
“Canada”

What is the project you have been most proud of?
“As a project in the office, West Bridgford. My favourite University project, ‘HUB’ Cruise Ship Terminal “

What advice would you give your 18 year old self? 
“Start University projects when they’re given to you! Not 1 week before hand in”

What is your guilty pleasure? 
“Neighbours (The Soap)”

What would be your first purchase if you won the lottery?
“A new car (specifically and Audi RS4)”

What is the one thing people wouldn’t guess about you / secret skill?
“I can play the Piano”

What did you want to be when you “grew up”? Did you do it?
“Architect. Yes, eventually”

What is your favourite aspect of your job?
“The variety of work and no two days are the same / seeing things I’ve been involved with become reality”

What/ who inspires you?
“My son Jack with his determination to succeed and ability to cope with whatever is thrown at him”

What project are you working on right now?
“Hickings Lane Medical Centre, Kibworth Health Centre, A New Contemporary one-off House , ARCHICAD template, ARCHICAD beta testing, BIM Implementation”

What is your favourite film?
“I have several favourites, The Truman Show, any film with Tom Hanks, and The Wind In The Willows (1980s version)”

Where do you see the industry in 10 years?
“More factory pre-fabrication, all buildings generating their own and excess energy and full collaborative working on one central virtual building model.”

If you could invite 3 people to dinner, past or present, who would you invite?
“Tom Hanks, Steve Jobs, My Nan”
